The City of Slater is strategically located in the heart of Missouri. Over 50% of the nations manufacturing shipments and 48% of the population are within a 500 mile radius of our state. Located just twenty miles north of I-70 and eleven miles northeast of Highway 65 on Highway 240 Slater' access to major metropolitan areas is excellent. We are served by three state highways, truck lines, municipal airport and Gateway Western Railroad. Brunswick River Terminal on the Missouri River is locate less than 25 miles from Slater. Freight delivery is available through multiple carriers and a second class post office.
Slater's greatest asset is its people with a labor force dedicated to productivity. 'Pride in a honest day's work' would be a fitting motto for the women and men that work here. The area offers an abundant supply of stable, motivated, non-union and skilled labor--able to grow with business. Within a fifteen mile radius is a labor force of almost 30,000. In Slater, industry can avoid the high cost of labor prevalent in metropolitan areas. The cost of living, wages and operations are less, even compared to other small cities.
In Slater, government, people and business work together. Whether you need a site, a building, financing, utilities or training; our officials and development groups (private and public) are ready and willing to assist. There is an active private economic development group that assists with financing, buildings and economic development. Slater is also applying for 'Enhanced Enterprise Zone' status. When complete it will mean even more incentive for businesses to locate here. Our active Chamber of Commerce organization is meets monthly and will offer many resources for the business community as well.
A new 6,000 sq./ft. bank facility has been built by the State Bank of Slater. With an investment of over $1,000,000.00 they are energetic and eager to assist new businesses locate in Slater.

Slater boasts two modern Industrial Parks with over fifty-one acres available for building or expanding businesses. There are a variety of sites available. Both offer clear, level, attractive sites, with full utilities and priced well below what you might pay elsewhere. Rail spurs are available on some of the locations. Our downtown business district currently has 6000 sq/ft of new retail space available for rent, lease or purchase.
It is easy to understand why industries that have moved to Slater, expand in Slater. The low cost of operation can't be beat. Not only is labor productive and reasonably compensated, other costs are very favorable to industry. Taxes, development fees, utilities are below most areas.
